Arequipa, Peru

A UNESCO World Heritage Site and Peru's second largest city, Arequipa makes for an excellent long weekend trip from Lima. So, last Friday I took a 1.5 hour flight to spend some time in what's commonly known as the "white city" since so many of the buildings were constructed from the volcanic stones nearby (the city itself is surrounded by three of the largest volcanoes in Peru).

The historical city center can be explored on foot in just a few hours, so I ended up taking a bus tour one day that took me to the outskirts of town, where I was able to spend some time horseback riding, as well as posing with some local kids and their baby llama, as well as some falcons.
