La Vendimia 2015














For the last four out of five years, I have been privileged to be able to fly to Mendoza, a small city near the border of Chile and the wine making capital of Argentina, to participate in Vendimia - the national festival of the harvesting of the grapes used to make the wine. It's a week-long affair with night- and daytime parades featuring gauchos (cowboys) and beauty queens, a huge nighttime performance with thousands of actors and 60,000 attendees in an outdoor amphitheater, and an opportunity for me to catch up with old friends who live in Mendoza.

This year's performance was special because Pope Francis sent a handwritten note to the City of Mendoza blessing them and blessing the harvest. For more photos from Vendimia 2015, click here.
