Oktoberfest 2019 - The Argentine Way!

Since 1963, the sleepy town of Villa General Belgrano, in the province of Cordoba, Argentina, has played host to the 2nd largest Oktoberfest in South America (the largest is in Blumenau, Brazil), attracting tens of thousands of people from across the continent for two weeks of partying.

Cordoba province has the largest number of German immigrants in all of Argentina, many coming before World War II and many (infamously) after. Arriving in General Belgrano literally feels like arriving in a traditional German village.

Upon arriving, it's traditional to buy a German beer mug (liter or 2 liter size) and a strap to carry it, which I did. The beer vendors clean the mug each time it's refreshed, and mine was cleaned quite a few times while there.

In addition to the beer, there's traditional German music concerts taking part throughout the village, German food and the "buena onda" of celebrating a European festival in a completely different continent.
