Antarctica, Cape Horn, Ushuaia and Falkland Islands (and a few more ports!)

On January 9, my parents and I embarked on a 22 day journey that took us from Santiago, Chile and ending up in Buenos Aires. Over three weeks, we cruised 4,871 miles, starting in San Antonio, Chile where we saw sea lions so close you could touch, then docking in Puerto Montt, Puerto Chacabuco and Punta Arenas, Chile.

From Chile, we sailed to Ushuaia, Argentina, the southernmost city in the world, where we explored Tierra del Fuego National Park. From there, we navigated through the world famous Cape Horn/Drake Passage until arriving in Antarctica, where we spent four days. While in Antarctica, we saw tons of penguins up close and even some humpback whales, while surrounded by massive icebergs and, of course, glaciers.

Departing Antartica, we headed toward Puerto Madryn, Argentina but the waters were too difficult to dock so we spent a day at sea before arriving in Port Stanley in the Falkland Islands (Islas Malvinas) where we were privileged enough to walk amongst penguins and other birds native to the island.

The trip ended with a day in Montevideo, Uruguay before arriving in Buenos Aires on January 31. The pictures below are far too few to capture the amazing sights we saw but should give you a good idea!
