Since July 4 falls on a Saturday this year, I have Friday, July 3 off to celebrate USA's Independence Day. Being a long weekend, I decided to visit Mendoza, in the center of Argentina.Mendoza is most famous for its excellent wines, but the province is also home to the tallest mountain in North and South America. I still haven't decided on my exact itinerary, but Belen, my friend from CT who is from Mendoza, has invited me to her house for an asado "BBQ" on Sunday before I fly home!
And, to get to Mendoza, I'm taking an overnight bus. Buses here are pretty luxurious and this particular one has seats that turn into full beds, hot meals, and an open bar with beer, wine and champagne. I can't wait!
